Teaching Portfolio pedagogy

Our philosophy on teaching is based on observation and engagement in diverse cultural environments. As a facilitator, our goal is to teach and mentor students, while inspiring them to stretch their technical and conceptual skills through the process of visual exploration and creative problem solving.

As a facilitator, our commitment is in providing an engaging and empowering learning environment.

By understanding and acknowledging disparate learning styles for students, effective strategies can be implemented, which in return can help engage everyone in the learning process.

Our pedagogy approach includes lectures that are reinforced with demonstrations. By learning through engagement and participation, we emphasize on structure and rigor while fostering individual confidence to become lifelong learners.

Our hope is to foster confidence by providing the adequate and effective tools to continue the discovery process of learning.

Our workshop covers the mechanism of the camera and the importance of light.

This includes the implementation of a hands-on interactive pamphlet not only to define relationships and terminology — but as a space to engage in the learning process — actively and collectively.

Topics: types of cameras and their functions, lens operation, file formats, proper exposure, white balance, composition, lighting, memory storage, image editing software and methods of correct output for various scenarios. Exploring ways on how to design a photography toolbox.

Above: our facilitated workshop scenario in a studio class setting. Designed for the Graduate students of the Visual Communication Design program at Arizona State University.
